Their easy, intimate style creates a relaxed, engaging atmosphere, with stories and playful touches that bring every song to life. Vocalist and guitarist Luke Futcher’s rich, smooth croon draws comparisons to Bing Crosby, Al Bowlly and Nat King Cole. From heartfelt ballads to gritty blues and playful novelty tunes, he brings charm and authenticity in equal measure, while his guitar shifts effortlessly from hot club snap to driving swing. On double bass, Pete Maxfield is a seasoned jazz heavyweight. His quartet Sphere won the Young Jazz Musician of the Year award in 1981 and topped the Melody Maker Jazz Chart with a No.1 album. He has since toured internationally, recorded award-winning albums and performed alongside leading names on the UK jazz scene, bringing deep swing and musical authority to the trio. Multi-instrumentalist Sarah Scutt, on clarinet and accordion, brings warmth, agility and expressive flair to the trio. A Trinity Laban graduate, she has performed at the Royal Opera House and at jazz and folk festivals nationwide. Equally at home in jazz, klezmer, classical and musical theatre, she has recorded with a wide range of artists, bringing stylistic fluency and imaginative phrasing to every performance.
