The Alphabet Business Convention
Start time: 6pm
A musical extravaganza to celebrate the legendary cult musician, composer and producer Tim Smith. Formed in the late seventies, his band Cardiacs were a thrilling combination of punk rock and psychadelic pop. The Alphabet Business Convention is a gathering of affectionate friends, fans and ex-members of Cardiacs performing music to bend and reshape your brain – in a good way! By extra special request, the evening is headlined by extraordinarily diverse American songwriter, Rob Crow. His band features members of Gong, Knifeworld, Scritti Politti and North Sea Radio Orchestra. This is a very rare UK performance. William D. Drake performs an eclectic set on his harmonium drawing songs from The Sea Nymphs alongside his own solo work. Shrubbies, featuring Dominic Luckman on drums, reform especially for the event. The evening is brought to a close by legendary snooker player and DJ Steve Davis playing a set of interesting alternative music. But it doesnt end there! All proceeds go to Tim Smith who suffered a heart attack and two strokes in 2008.
