Composed in 1741 and first performed in Dublin on 13 April 1742, Handel's Messiah has become one of the best known and most popular choral works. Join us at Salisbury Cathedral for the perfect preparation for Christmas.

Event: Carols by Candlelight - 7pm - For ticket details or more information visit www.salisburycathedral.org.uk/events/carols-candlelight - The familiar story of the birth of Jesus is told through readings from the Bible and other sources, through beautiful choral works sung by our Cathedral choir, and all the favourite carols. Come and join us for a very special start to the festive season which includes the blessing of our Christmas crib. There are no tickets required for this service, everyone is welcome. Please note that saving seats once in the Cathedral will not be permitted, so members of a group wishing to sit together will need to queue together. Please arrive in good time to be sure of getting in before the permitted capacity is reached. In any event, please be seated by 18.40.

Amateur mixed choir. The Salisbury Musical Society is an amateur, mixed choir of about 140 voices.
